Bhutan in a Glimpse: Himalayan Wonders

Experience the thrill of flying to Paro, Bhutan, with Druk Air or Bhutan Air! Depending on your flight time, visit Buddha Point (Kuenselphodrang) to admire the magnificent Buddha statue and panoramic views of Thimphu Valley. Explore the Memorial Chorten, built in honour of Bhutan’s third King, and the majestic Tashichho Dzong, a historic fortress and seat of Bhutan’s government and monastic body. Start your morning off with a scenic drive from Thimphu to Paro Valley, where you’ll find the iconic Taktsang Monastery, also known as “Tiger’s Nest”. Believed to be the site where Guru Rimpoche or Guru Padmasambhava flew on the back of a tigress from Tibet and meditated in the cave for three months, the monastery is perched on a rock overlooking a
9678-foot sheer drop. Though the main building was destroyed by a fire in 1998, the hike up to the monastery’s viewpoint is an exhilarating experience, taking about two and a half hours of average walking (five hours’ round trip).
